It doesn’t matter what data source you look at; increased family size is one of the top reasons why people buy a home. The need for more space and stability for that growing family is a strong motivator for purchasing. And while most of our clients have the best of intentions with planning ahead, we find that many buyers find themselves house hunting while pregnant, which can be incredibly stressful.
In fact, in a recent survey, Motley Fool reported that 71% of people still find the home buying process overwhelming; but it doesn’t have to be. With just a few adjustments to your house hunting strategy and process, the experience can actually be enjoyable – even if you are pregnant while doing it.
Series: Buying a Home in Austin While Pregnant
That’s why I’ve created this blog series: to help pregnant home buyers in Austin make their home buying experience manageable and enjoyable. So, in the next few weeks, I’ll share advice and information that will help you find the perfect home for yourself and your family. I’ll cover questions like:
- When should I aim to close and move-in? Is it better to do it before or after the baby arrives?
- What should I consider in location and neighborhood that I might not otherwise?
- How much space does my family really need? What other features will be helpful with a newborn?
- How can I make the experience easy so I don’t add stress to the pregnancy?
