Built in the 1970s and 1980s, Shenandoah is one of Cedar Park’s most established neighborhoods. Homes are a modest size (most less than 2,000 square feet, though you will find some as large as 4,700 sq ft) compared to new construction you see today. The majority are one story homes and sit on 1/4-1+ acre lots. If you find a home in original condition, you can expect a small kitchen, wood paneling, wood ceiling beams and 3-4 bedrooms. Others have been fully remodeled to keep the character of the 1970s construction but add more modern touches and open up the floor plan. There is no HOA in Shenandoah, so it gives residents the ability to design the home they want or just use their property as they see fit rather than abiding by a long list of rules. That does mean there are no community amenities, but most lots are large enough for home owners to add their own amenities that they don’t have to enjoy with 100 other residents. If you’re looking for a home on a large lot and don’t mind doing some updating, or want something that’s been updated but doesn’t look like every other home in a suburban community, Shenandoah might be the place to start your search.
