Golf in Ridgetop
A nine hole public course, Hancock Public Golf Courseis reasonably priced and doesn’t require huge monthly fees to play there. Its easy to get a tee time and a decent golf course. Just south of the neighborhood, Hancock is where many Ridgetop residents play.
Things to Do in Ridgetop
Coldtowne Theater
Ridgetop is home to the Coldtowne Theater – Austin’s only center for improv and sketch comedy training. Your admission to the classes will also get you into the shows. They also host corporate team building exercises.
Yoga in the Park at Shipe Park
Just east of Ridgetop, you’ll find Shipe Park, one of Austin’s many public parks. Every Wednesday at 7pm (provided the temperature is at least 60 degrees and not extremely hot either) you’ll find Yoga in the Park. For a suggested donation of $10/class, you’ll get a full yoga class in a cool outdoor setting.
Places to Eat in Ridgetop
House Pizzeria
Ridgetop residents don’t have to travel far for good pizza. House Pizzeria, located right in the middle of Ridgetop, serves authentic neapolitan style pizza. They’ve developed about 10 different topping combinations on their 12” pizzas. Try a few different pizzas with friends, or split a pizza and salad. Either way you’ll be happy you came.
Taqueria La Canaria
If you live in Ridgetop and like Mexican style street tacos, you need to try the carne guisada tacos at Taqueria La Canaria. It’s in the yellow truck at the corner of 51st and Airport.
Tamale House
Breakfast for under $1? Yes, its still possible at one of Ridgetop’s local restaurants, Tamale House. There are 17 different two ingredient breakfast tacos to choose from.
Burger Tex
Another Ridgetop favorite, Burger Tex executes burgers and fries perfectly. With homemade wheat buns, 100% USDA chuck, and 3 different sized patties you can’t go wrong. They also have a ton of other choices including fish, chicken and steak. Definitely worth a stop.
Texas Land and Catttle Steak House

Coffee in Ridgetop
Flightpath Coffeehouse
If you’re looking for a great place to study, get some work done or just enjoy some peace and quiet, try the back section of Flightpath Coffeehouse, just a few blocks east of Ridgetop. Parking can be problematic during busy times, but if you check the back of the building or surrounding streets you can usually find something. Their tables and chairs are comfortable and coffee is pretty good.
Epoch Coffee
Epoch is a must go for night owls since its open 24 hours. A mile or so east of Ridgetop, residents like the dog friendly patio, free wifi, selection of teas and desserts. Residents aren’t fans of the bathrooms so go before you go.
Where to Work Out – Gyms Near Ridgetop
24 Hour Fitness
Located in Hancock Center, just South of Ridgetop, 24 Hour Fitness is a nationally owned chain of gyms. If you’re looking for a more modern gym with group classes, a kids club and pool, 24 Hour Fitness may be more your style.
Shipe Park
When it’s not blazing hot outside – or if you’re a lifetime Austinite used to the heat – Ridgetop residents can enjoy the basketball and tennis courts for public use at Shipe Park.
Eastside Balance Pilates Studio
Ridgetop residents looking for a different types of workout head to Eastside Balnace Pilates studio located in Ridgetop. They have classes for beginners, intermediates and advanced levels. They limit their classes to just a few students, so you’re able to take advantage of the personal attention and advance faster.
