Commuting to and from Rosedale
Commuting to Downtown Austin from Rosedale is fairly easy. Because you won’t have to get on MoPac of IH-35, which can be quite packed during commute hours, you’ll save precious minutes off your commute. Luckily, MoPac (the less busier of the two Austin freeways) is not too far from Rosedale so if you have to commute North or South, you’ll be able to get on and off fairly painlessly.

Ramsey Park and Pool
Ramsey Park and Pool is located in central Rosedale and offers a community pool and playground. The pool is surrounded by trees, which provides much needed shade in the summer time, is patrolled by lifeguards and best of all – free! With only one lane for lap swim, this pool is more of a kid/family pool.
The park – and even the bathrooms – are clean and they offer a place for BBQ and picnicking. They also have tennis and basketball courts for public use.
On Sundays at 2pm, adults head over for the weekly pickup softball game. The one downside is there is not a dedicated parking lot, but there is plenty of parallel parking on the surrounding streets.
Golf in Rosedale
The closest golf to Rosedale is a few miles east at Hancock Golf Course. Part of Austin’s Public Links system, this course is open to the public and is the oldest golf course in Texas.
Places to Eat in Rosedale
La Cocina de Consuelo
La Concina de Consuelo is located at the northeast corner of Rosedale. Their homemade wheat, corn and flour tortillas make their tacos. They are also very well priced and huge. How could you go wrong?
Upper Crust Bakery
Rosedale’s hidden lunch bargain. You get a half sandwich, cup of soup, chips, salsa, bread and butter for next to nothing considering what you get. Not only is the food very reasonably priced, it is also very good too. Their chocolate croissants are also fabulous.
Sarah’s Mediterranean Grill and Market
This is a cool place with a Mediterranean grocery store and restaurant. Most Rosedale residents call in their order to go, but there are tables where you can eat in the restaurant as well. Their hummus and rotisserie chicken are both very popular and good. Coffee in Rosedale
Houndstooth Coffee
Houndstooth is one of Rosedale’s favorite coffee places. Though small inside, the natural light makes it feel more open. The coffee is one of the better cups in Austin with two choices of espresso beans. They also serve beer and wine.
Pacha
Pacha specializes in organic. Whether you are having a coffee, breakfast taco or one of their pies you can count on the fact it will be organic. Pacha has a shaded back patio for those who prefer to sit outside.
Teo
This place serves coffee and gelato – voted Austin’s best. The gelato is made in house and coffee is also not bad. For a different combination, try their espresso and gelato combination.
Apothecary Coffee House and Wine Bar
They are known for creating patterns in the foam of your espresso drink. Many Rosedale residents like the atmosphere here – and the fact they also serve beer, wine and snacks. The patio is dog friendly and they have free wi-fi for those looking for a place to work or study.
Where to Work Out – Gyms Near Rosedale
Breath and Body Yoga
Breath and Body Yoga, at the Northeast end of Rosedale, teaches several different styles of yoga. You can pay per class, buy several classes (at a discount from the drop in rate) and use them as you please or buy an unlimited pass so it is the perfect place for beginners to advanced yoga students. Class schedules and sign ups are online so you can pick and choose what you want to attend.
Crossfit Central
Travel a few blocks north of Rosedale and you’ll find one of two Austin Crossfit Centrals which offers small CrossFit style classes. Locals rave about the variety workout and the personal attention the trainers give to the class. It is a bit more than a traditional gym membership, but the payoff is well worth it.
