Chernosky is an older neighborhood with easy access to 183 & Riverside and is less than 15 minutes to downtown. It is comprised of mostly single story homes with some modular homes. Carports are more prevalent with few garages. It does not have an HOA so while many of the homes are tidy, there are some that are not well-kept. The community, however, is very close knit and many residents would say this is a strong benefit to the neighborhood. The neighborhood is also home to the Montopolis Practice Fields, nearby hike & bike trails and a city pool. The proximity of this neighborhood to downtown has made it desirable for developers specializing in economical new construction. It is fairly common to see two newly developed free-standing homes on one lot in this neighborhood (listed as condos due to the shared driveways). These units offer residents the opportunity for single family home living at an affordable price, within 15 minutes from downtown. Combine that with mature trees and you can see why homes in Chernosky usually sell fast. If you’re looking for an affordable neighborhood, close to downtown, that is appreciating in value – Chernosky may be worth a look.
