Developed during the 1940s and 1950s post war housing boom, Cherrywood is one of East Austin’s most unique neighborhoods. You’ll find single family, ranch style homes as well as duplex style homes and even some new construction. The majority of homes are on the small side (below 1,200 sq ft), though you will find larger than average lots, especially when compared to new construction in the suburbs. Many of the homes have been remodeled, so if you’re looking for something a little more modern than 1950s construction, I wouldn’t rule out the neighborhood. Cherrywood is a very convenient spot for both commuters and those looking to be near restaurants, coffee and shopping. Bordered by Manor Rd to the south, many residents are within walking distance to local hot spots like Salty Sow, Haymaker and Das Due.
