Gardens is one of the more affordable neighborhoods in East Austin. It is a charming neighborhood made up of only 6 streets and still holds most of its original appeal. In Gardens you will find mostly traditional minimalist style homes on modest manicured lots. Most of the homes are still in their original state, but you will find a few homes that are totally renovated on the inside. Gardens Neighborhood Map
Gardens is a pocket neighborhood located in Govalle located between Springdale Rd and Airport Blvd, which makes a great alternative for commuters headed north. Hwy 183 is also 2 miles to the east and IH 35 is 2.5 miles. To get to Gardens, take 35 to 7th St and head east. Make a left on Pleasant Valley. Make a right on Lyons St. Make a left on Mansell Ave. Gardens is bordered by Bolm Road to the north, Airport Boulevard to the east, Boggy Creek to the south and Springdale Road to the west. Things to Do Near Gardens
Gardens is in an ideal location to experience the best of Austin. WIth as many top notch restaurants that have settled in the area, you don’t have to go far to have a great meal. One of the best in the area is Jacoby’s Restaurant and Mercantile. This farm to table restaurant has a seasonal menu and one of the best brunches in the city. Located just down the street from the Gardens neighborhood is a unique coffee shop called Sa-Ten. This cafe offers a traditional coffee menu but also serves tasty Japanese snacks. On the south side of the Gardens neighborhood, you will find Boggy Creek. Although the water in Boggy Creek fluctuates greatly between rain storms, you still have access to the Walnut Creek Hike and Bike Trail. This 7.3 mile trail will take you northeast from Govalle Park to the Walter E. Long Metro Park.

The property tax rate in East Austin’s Gardens neighborhood is 1.8092% as of the 2023 tax year, down from 1.9749% as of the 2022 tax year. The property tax rate was 2.2266% as of the 2021 tax year.
