The Saturday before Halloween, we decided to soak in some Halloween festivities by taking a stroll down South Congress. Not only did we experience the sights and sounds of Halloween in Austin, we also stumbled across a nice Halloween treat at the Crepe Mille Trailer. We weren’t particularly hungry, as we already had dinner, but the aromas generated from this airstream trailer was too hard for our taste buds to pass up.
Where is Crepe Mille?
Crepe Mille is located at 1318 S Congress, Austin 78704. Visit their website, Crepe of SoCo for an updated schedule of their hours.
The Order
We didn’t want to overindulge ourselves, so we decided to split one of their crepes. Looking up and down the menu, it was hard to decided if we wanted sweet or savory. After about a 5 minutes of deliberation we chose to go with their most popular item the Chicken Burgundy Crepe. Did I say it was their most popular item? It definitely was, as they were all sold out. After we got over our initial disappointment, we settled on their Rotisserie Chicken Crepe. Because they make everything fresh, they explained it would be about 10 to 15 minutes, which was no problem. We sat at one of their tables and enjoyed the spectacle that is South Congress on Halloween.
The Crepes
When the food came out we were a little surprised the crepe was green. Get past the green because these little guys are tasty. The crepes tasted very fresh and clean. I don’t know how you describe food as tasting clean but for some reason this did. The rotisserie chicken was moist and the spinach inside the crepe made a nice combination. The crepe was very light and probably the total opposite of the creme filled burgundy crepe that we initially wanted. It was the perfect choice as we just wanted to sample and weren’t looking for a meal.
What Do We Want to Try Next?
Our next trip to the Crepe Mille we will make sure our belly’s are empty so we can sample a little more than just one crepe. The Chicken Burgundy is a must try. The other crepes that look interesting are the Omelete Crepe (Ham or Bacon), the BBQ Beef Brisket and the Pepperoni Pizza. You can’t forget about the Sweet Crepes. For $4.50 you can try one of their easy crepes where you can choose a spread (nutella, peanut butter, almond butter, butter, honey butter, milk chocolate, or white chocolate) and pair it with a topping (strawberry, banana, marshmallow, oreo cookie or Blue Bell vanilla ice cream).
