If you ever look online for best coffee shops in Austin, Patika coffee usually shows up at the top of a lot of lists. Normally when I go for coffee, I plan an afternoon with my laptop. Since Patika coffee is a cafe on wheels, I never made the time to make the work day escape here. That is until this week. While I was strolling down Congress Avenue, what do I find? A shiny little mecca of coffee goodness.
Where is Patika Coffee?
Patika coffee is located in Downtown Austin on Congress Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Street.
The Coffee
For 2:30 on a Monday afternoon there was quite a line. I guess if your fans of the 5 hour energy commercials, everybody was trying to avoid that 2:30 feeling. Although there was only one barista taking orders and filling the orders, the line moved along swiftly. The barista made sure he acknowledged the next person and that he would get to them ASAP.
Patika Coffee Menu
The menu at Patika has everything you would except at a high-end coffee shop. They have espresso, lattes, macchiatos, cold drinks, tea, hot chocolate and a coffee of the day. They also serve tasty looking ham and cheese croissants, chocolate croissants and other pastries.
The Peppermint Mocha
Since it was cold, I decided on a hot drink. I originally though cafe mocha but when the barista recommended the peppermint mocha, I went with it and it was the perfect choice The espresso was high quality, the mocha was dark and rich and the peppermint gave an extra sweetness. Definitely holiday decadence in a cup.
Patika Coffee Review
My first visit was a nice surprise on chilly afternoon. I was highly impressed with the quality and service from this cafe on wheels. This could turn in to my go to coffee spot whenever I’m in or near downtown. Now if they ever get WiFi, all bets are off as my new afternoon office could very well be on Congress Avenue.
Trailer or not, Patika could possibly be my favorite Austin coffee spot.

I love these unique coffee joints. I also love Starbucks but this is Austin and it is great to support the local business owners too!

I used to only drink Starbucks coffee, however, since moving to Austin and trying some of these great local joints I am finding myself at Starbucks less and less. Austin does a great job with their coffee.
