I first learned about The Peached Tortilla a few months ago when I started researching Austin food trucks to check out for our Best Austin Food Trucks series. They hadn’t launched yet but their blog, story and food had me intrigued. I saw them on the Gypsy Picnic Schedule and decided I would check them out there. But, by the time we got there (around 2pm), they had already sold out. So….the following week, we decided to check it out.
The Food
We found The Peached Tortilla truck over at Star Bar in Downtown (600 W 6th St), found a parking place and walked over. While looking at the menu, one of their regular Star Bar customers said we should try the Banh Mi Sliders because they were “life changing.” I wasn’t planning on ordering banh mi sliders, which are their vietnamese braised pork belly sliders, but I’ve never heard someone describe food as life changing, so I had to at least try it. I also ordered a crunchy catfish taco and Chris ordered a BBQ brisket taco and chicken satay taco. We also got an order of the fries with the bacon ranch dip.
The cool thing about when they’re at Star Bar is you can eat on Star Bar’s patio, and order drinks from Star Bar. They’ll even bring the food over to you if they’re not busy. Almost like a sit down restaurant.
Life Changing?
Now you’re probably wondering…were the banh mi sliders really life changing? I will say it takes a lot to impress me food wise, but these sliders were in fact life changing. Something about the combination of flavors and the Hawaiian roll made it one of the best sliders I’ve ever had. No, probably the best slider.
What was equally as amazing was the BBQ brisket taco. Again, the combination of flavors gave the taco a very unique taste, which was amazing. And, the bacon ranch sauce? Fabulous. I can’t wait to try the other sauces.
Where Can You Find The Peached Tortilla?
Peached Tortilla is a roving truck, which means it travels from location to location and never stays in one place. To find out where they are, I usually check Twitter @PeachedTortilla. They do a great job of updating their schedule, so you’ll always know where they are.
The Peached Tortilla Experience
Peached Tortilla Catering
Love The Peached Tortilla? Hire them to cater your next party or event. Too bad I’m already married! I’d have them cater my wedding, especially if they brought the truck!
The Verdict?
There aren’t enough words in my vocabulary to accurately describe how good this food truck is. If it wouldn’t be seen as stalking, I might just follow them and eat it every meal. I can’t wait to go back and try the other menu items. Check out Loading Dock Repair Specialists – Levelers, Shelters, Plates, Lifts.
