Our obsession with Austin food trucks started before we were even official residents. On one of our trips to Austin before we decided Austin was going to be our next stop, we were in a huge hurry to go from an appointment in SoCo to check out Lake Travis. Looking for a place to grab something quick – at this point we were thinking fast food was our only option – we stumbled upon the Trailer Park in SoCo. Like a mirage in the dessert, these trailers were going to save us from eating fast food. We decided on Mighty Cone mainly because they served fries and carbs are a weak spot of mine. From the minute we tried the food, we were hooked.
Hooked on Trailer Food?
When we moved to Austin, we began trying the different food trucks and realized our first (and positive) experience with Austin food trucks was not just because we were starving. It seemed many of the food trucks were better than the sit down restaurants. Pretty soon, food trucks became our go to spots for Friday night dinners – and let’s be honest – several weeknights when we found ourselves hungry at 7:30pm with either nothing in the fridge or nothing we wanted to eat. Before long, we found ourselves hooked on trailer food!
Our Goal: Find the Best Food Trucks in Austin
Because we live in South Austin’s South Lamar neighborhood – or SoLa as the hipsters call it – we have plenty of options to try a new type of food truck. And we’ve made it a goal to find the best food trucks Austin – not just South Austin – has to offer. Food Truck Fridays is that journey.
Why Friday?
Simply because it starts with F and sounds cute next to Food Truck. (Don’t tell Chris that it sounds cute! He wouldn’t put his name next to something “cute”. So we’ll just keep that between us!)
