Founded in 1876 by James Emory Hutto, the city of Hutto is one of the top Austin area suburbs. With nearly 8 square miles of land, the population was 27,577 at the 2020 census. And, with new neighborhoods popping up at the rate they area, there is no doubt the population should soar to well above those numbers in the coming years. Hutto has a cute downtown district with silos to mimic Magnolia Market in Waco and one of the best pie restaurants in all of Texas, Texan Cafe & Pie Shop. Hutto is also one of the more affordable suburbs of Austin, making it a go to spot for someone looking for value. Plus, the school district is consistently improving every year, soon to catch up with neighboring highly rated districts like Round Rock. Many of the neighborhoods have a suburban feel, but you can still find neighborhoods with some larger acreage tracts. If you’re looking for affordability but don’t want to sacrifice proximity to Austin and city amenities, Hutto is a great place to start your search. Scroll Down to Read Our Hutto Neighborhood Guide.
