If you’ve been considering relocating to Austin, you may still have your doubts that the fascination with Austin is a passing fancy. This news, however, should quiet them: Austin held tight to the #1 spot again this year and topped U.S. News & World Report Rankings for Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2018.
The Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2018 by U.S. News & World Report
U.S. News & World Report, well known for their rankings of American cities, recently came out with their list of the Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2018. You can read the full article here.
Austin (Again) Named the Best Place to Live in the U.S. in 2018
Austin topped the list last year and continued its reign as the Best Place to Live in the U.S. in 2018. It was also #9 on the Best Places to Retire this year. While most residents are drawn to the local culture, music & outdoors, they stay because of the solid job market, livability and overall value.
Texas Had 3 Metros in the Top 25
Three of the four major Texas metropolitan areas (Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas) were all in the Top 25. (Houston fell to #26 this year.) Why is Texas so desirable? Strong job markets and (relatively) low cost of living continue to drive migration to the state of Texas.
What Factors Were Considered?
According to the report, “to make the top of the list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.”
