Forbes Magazine recently released their list of Coolest Cities in the US and, of course, Austin ranked pretty hig. Those of us living in Austin already know what a cool city it is. And, with the numbers of people relocating here, it seems quite a few other people across the country know that as well.
What Criteria Did Forbes Use to Make the List?
Forbes said they partnered with Sperling’s Best Places and looked at the top 60 US metros. They favored cities with an entertainment and “foodie” culture, cities with a high population of 20-34 year olds, cities that were culturally diverse and cities with high population net growth.
Austin Ranks 3rd Coolest City in US
Austin ranked 3rd on this list, only beat out by Washington DC and Seattle. Austin was the highest ranked Texas city, with three others in the top 15. Austin ranked a 75/100 on Arts and Culture Index, 48 on the Recreation index, 66.54 on the diversity index, 73.9% of restaurants are local eateries, 32.5% of the population are aged 20-34, and the city had a net migration of 7.5%.
