The commercial space (defunct Office Furniture Now Building) off of South Congress and St. Elmo will be receiving a much needed and highly anticipated facelift. The 12-acre project will break ground mid-2016 with an expected opening date of 2018.
St Elmo Mixed Use Project
Dubbed “St. Elmo” this mixed used project will add a trendy live, work, play location to Way-South Austin. With a price tag of $125 million, the St. Elmo project will house a 40,000 square foot public market as its centerpiece. Included in the plans are spaces for 25-30 vendors, indoor and outdoor communal seating, roof-top deck, brewery and beer garden, office spaces, boutique hotel and residential condos. Also moving to the development is the one of Austin’s music icons, Saxon Pub.

As Austin’s population growth continues to move to “Way South” Austin, we are sure to see more and more of these mixed use and entertainment venues being discussed. Currently, the only large entertainment venue in the 78745/78748 zip codes is the Moontower Saloon on Manchaca Road.
