Highland Park – West Balcones is a collection of smaller neighborhoods in Central Austin. Many of them sit perched on Mount Bonnell, which gives the homes a beautiful view of the Downtown Austin skyline as well as Lake Austin and the Texas Hill Country.

Neighborhoods with Best Austin Skyline Views: SoCo – South Congress
South Congress, or SoCo as its commonly called, has amazing views of the Capital from South Congress Ave. Because you’re so close (just across Lady Bird Lake) to Downtown Austin and not as elevated, you won’t see those sweeping Austin skyline views you’ll find in Highland Park – West Balcones. But, that doesn’t mean it isn’t a great view. You know it must be pretty good when all of the capital pictures you see are taken from South Congress Ave.

Some of Clarksville is slightly elevated and when you look at how close Clarksville is to the Downtown area, you’ll see how these homes could have a beautiful city view. For the best views, try the neighborhood’s northwest side. Clarksville is one of the oldest sections of Austin with many of the homes named one of Austin’s Historical Landmarks.

Located a tad southwest from Downtown Austin and perched atop a small hill, Bartons Bluff – Spyglass is one of the best neighborhoods for city views in Austin. Built primarily in the 1990s, Bartons Bluff – Spyglass is one of the newer neighborhoods in the area.

Located just west and across Lake Austin, you’ll find this beautiful waterfront community.
