Great Hills Country Club
Even if you’re not a golfer, Great Hills Country Club offers social, fitness, tennis, swimming and dining activities for the entire family. No matter which activities you enjoy, there is a membership package for you.
Hike St. Edwards Park
One of Great Hills’ hidden gems, St. Edwards Park has several hiking trails. Usually not very busy, it is easy to get a parking place and use your time getting some exercising and enjoying the outdoors rather than driving around looking for some place to park. The scenery is beautiful and the hike is challenging. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic after your hike.
Places to Eat in Great Hills
Fujiyama Steakhouse and Sushi
For dinner and a show in Great Hills, try Fujiyama Steakhouse and Sushi for teppanyaki. Chefs cook your choice of chicken, steak, seafood and vegetables on the grill in front of your table. Make sure to order fried rice.
Eddie V’s
Great restaurant just a few blocks from Great Hill to go for Happy Hour. They have tons of food and drink specials so you can try a few dishes. Great atmosphere and good food.
Newks Cafe
Newks Cafe is another Great Hills favorite. Many like their Newks Favorite salad and baked potato soup. Its open for lunch and dinner and they have several sandwiches, soups and pizzas.
Twin Lions Chinese Restaurant
Great Hills’ favorite chinese restaurant. They have killer lunch specials ($5-$7 for soup, egg roll and a meal) and get you in and out quickly if you’re in a hurry.
Mirabelle
Though not actually in Great Hills, this one has to make the list. We went there recently for lunch and had a fabulous meal. Their Hawked salad is a local favorite. The bread they serve with it is to die for. Also tried the catfish and it is excellent as well.
Coffee in Great Hills
360 Primo Coffee Shop
Great place to go for a cup of coffee and read/study/relax/meet friends. With all types of seating available – couch, indoor table, outdoor table or counter space, there is something for everyone.
Phoebe’s Mud
A great option for mobile espresso in Great Hills. They are a newer Austin coffee stop, founded in 2009, but are quickly becoming one of Austin’s favorites. Most like their blended coffee beverages because they aren’t super sweet and still taste like coffee.
Where to Work Out – Gyms Near Great Hills
24 Hour Fitness Great Hills
The closest gym for Great Hill residents is the 24 Hour Fitness near Great Hills Market. The machines are a bit dated, but there is plenty of equipment.
