There are three areas of town you’ll find yourself at a lot when looking for a restaurant – The Domain, The Arboretum and just west of Mesa Park on Research Blvd. Each of these areas have a concentrated area of restaurants. If you’re at The Domain try McCormick and Schmidt’s or The Daily Grill. If you’re at The Arboretum, try Eddie V’s or North by Northwest. One of my favorite coffee shops, Scooter’s is just west of Mesa Park on MoPac and Burnet. They have excellent coffee and smooties. For national chains, try Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at The Domain or Starbucks at The Arboretum. Another popular choice is It’s a Grind Coffee House at Amherst and Parmer.

If you’re looking for a traditional gym, try Pure Austin Fitness or 24-Hour Fitness. Locals tend to prefer Pure Austin Fitness between those two. If you’re looking for something different, try High Intensity Training (HIT) Center. They’ve got more equipment that can work body parts you didn’t even know you had. If you’re looking for results, and not just your average treadmill workout, these people know how to get results.
