Austin Bank Owned Properties Sold Down 73%
April 2016 saw a 73% decrease in the number of bank owned homes that sold in year over year figures. In April 2015, there were 11 bank owned homes that sold (closed escrow) compared to 3 in April 2016. Bank owned homes (foreclosures) accounted for 0.3% of the total home sales in Austin in April 2016, compared to 1.1% of the total sales in April 2015. The overall market saw a 6% increase in the number of homes sold compared to last year’s numbers.
44% Decrease in Austin Bank Owned Homes Under Contract
In April 2016, there were 5 bank owned homes that accepted a contract (pending) compared to 9 bank owned homes in April 2015 marking a 44% decrease in year over year numbers. Bank owned homes accounted for 0.4% of the homes that went under contract in April 2016 compared to 0.8% of homes that went under contract in April 2015. The full market saw an 8% increase in the number of homes that went pending compared to last year at this time, showing just how small a percentage the distressed market takes in Austin.
Austin Bank Owned Listed for Sale Down 14%
In April 2015, there were 7 foreclosures (homes owned by the bank) listed for sale compared to 6 in April 2016 showing a 14% decrease in year over year numbers. Bank owned homes listed for sale made up of 0.4% of the full market in April 2016 compared to 0.5% in April 2015. The full market saw a 3% increase in number of homes listed for sale.
Austin Bank Owned Homes Currently for Sale Down 46%
The number of bank owned homes in Austin currently on the market went from 26 in April 2015, to 14 in April 2016 marking a 46% (12 home) decrease. The number of bank owned homes for sale made up just 0.4% of the market in April 2016 compared to 0.8% in April 2015. The full market saw a 7% increase in the number of homes for sale this time last year.
2 Bank Owned Homes Didn’t Sell
In April 2016, banks took 2 homes off the market that didn’t sell compared to 0 in April 2015, showing a 2 home increase in year over year numbers.
What Do Austin Foreclosure Numbers Mean for Buyers?
