Median Price of a Luxury Home in Austin Up 4.6%
The median price of a luxury home in Austin in May 2023 was $1,399,999. Last month, the median price was $1,400,000, showing essentially no change in month over month comparisons. Last year, in May 2022, the median price of a luxury home in Austin was $1,338,000, showing a 4.6% increase in year over year numbers.
Austin Luxury Home Sales Down 35%
In May 2023, there were 281 luxury homes that sold in Austin, compared to 431 luxury homes that sold in May 2022, showing a 35% decrease in year over year numbers. Last month, there were 201 luxury homes that sold in Austin, showing a 40% increase in month over month comparisons.
Time to Sell an Austin Luxury Home Up 188%
In May 2023, it took, on average, 46 days to sell a luxury home in Austin compared to 16 days in May 2022 showing a 188% increase in year over year numbers. Last month, in April 2023, it took, on average, 44 days to sell a luxury home in Austin, showing a 5% increase in month over month comparisons.

For those of you who prefer to see the actual numbers, we’ve listed the figures for May 2023 Austin area luxury home sales below. The most expensive luxury home that sold in May 2023 sold for $8,700,000 and the least expensive luxury home sold for $1,000,000. Austin luxury homes ranged in size from 1,240 sqft – 13,037 sqft with an average size of 3,642 sqft. The average price per square foot for a luxury home that sold in Austin in May 2023 was $493.05 with the lowest being $199.82/sqft and the highest being $2,586.98/sqft. It took, on average, 46 days to sell a luxury home in Austin and sellers received, on average, 93.84% of their original list prices.
