Laurel Ridge is small neighborhood located directly across from the new and expansive Teravista Community in Round Rock. Indian Ridge is an even smaller community located next to Laurel Ridge. Both communities are part of Laurel Ridge Homeowner Association and both enjoy the same amenities, so they are often lumped into the Laurel Ridge neighborhood. The Laurel Ridge Homeowner Association is very active with regular meetings, neighborhood garage sales, holiday celebrations and community outreach events. Developed in the early 1990s, most of the homes are medium sized brick ranches on 1/4 acre lots. There are some larger 2 story homes sprinkled throughout the neighborhood which were built in the later 1990s. Things to Do in Laurel Ridge/Indian Ridge
Round Rock is known for its numerous, well maintained parks throughout the city. Currently Round Rock has 34 developed parks gracing over 1,700 acres and trail corridors. Not only does the community have use of the small Eagles Nest Park, but Laurel Ridge is in the process of developing their own community park for it’s residents.
Other nearby parks used by the residents are the15 acre Luther Peterson Park, which is more of a soccer complex, and then the crown jewel of Round Rock’s park system, Old Settler’s Park. Old Settler’s Park is a 570 acre sports complex offering cricket, 20-field baseball complex, 5-field softball complex, disc golf and soccer facilities. One weekend per month the park is reserved for official Sports Capital of Texas Tournaments hosting baseball and softball tournaments of over 100 teams, cross country meets, soccer and cricket tournaments. Old Settler’s Park also holds special events such as the July 4th Frontier Days, the Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt, and the Fall Fun Festival. Next to Old Settler’s Park is the Dell Diamond, home of the AAA minor league team of the Texas Rangers, the Round Rock Express. The Dell Diamond also holds other events throughout the year.
Golf Near Laurel Ridge
Laurel Ridge residents have the pleasure of being close to two top-notch golf courses. Directly across University Drive is the Teravista Golf Course which has recently been awarded as a “Beginner Friendly Course”. Although the course will give a newcomer an enjoyable experience, the 7,200 yard layout and rolling hills will still give the expert a challenge.
The Forest Creek Golf Club has been nationally recognized as one of the finest public golf courses in Central Texas. The 7,147 yard par 72 course also boasts an outstanding practice range and short game complex.
Places to Eat in Laurel Ridge
Living in the Laurel Ridge community your are surrounded by great casual dining restaurants like Steak and Shake, Pei Wei Asian Bistro, La Madeline and Mimi’s Cafe. You also have places like Razoo’s Cajun Cafe who is all about having fun, but serious about their food and service. Think anything cajun and this is it. From oysters to gator tail from crawfish to rat toes (not really rat toes) this place will give you a little taste of the bayou.
Also you can’t live in Round Rock and not try one of it’s world famous doughnuts. Round Rock Doughnuts starts early at 4 a.m. everyday. Since 1926, people from far and wide have been stopping by to try these tasty glazed orange colored doughnuts. Need a real sugar fix, try it Texas sized.
Shopping Near Laurel Ridge
People from all over Central Texas commute to Round Rock to take advantage of the premium outlets. The Round Rock Premium Outlets 125 outlet stores such as Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Burberry, Coach, Gap, Nike Polo and many many more.
Only a short few miles away from the community is IKEA. If you’re not familiar with IKEA, this is the perfect place to find smart and affordable ideas to furnish your new home. Spending an hour or two in IKEA is definitely worth the experience.
Where to Work Out – Gyms Near Laurel Ridge/Indian Ridge
Finding a place to work out near your community is not a problem. You are a just a short drive from the usual gyms like 24 hour Fitness and Gold’s Gym, but you also have the CHASCO Family YMCA and Fitness 360.
The CHASCO Family YMCA has a state of the at workout facility with top of the line cardio and strength training equipment. They also offer an aquatic center and numerous sports leagues. Fitness 360 is open 24 hours/ 7 days per week with high end weight training machines, free weights, treadmills, elliptical, adaptive motion trainers, and much more. They claim to be different from the big commercial gyms with no lines, no waiting and no interruptions.
