If you are someone who likes to be out exploring the city, Zilker Terrace is the perfect location. Just down the street you have Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Trail. If you get hungry, head to one of South Austin’s Food Trucks on Barton Springs Road, S 1st, S Congress or S Lamar. In the mood to have a night on the town? Head Downtown for restaurants, bars and nightlife.
Zilker Terrace Walkability
Walkscore considers Zilker Terrace a car dependent neighborhood. I would have to agree, you will need a car and you probably don’t want to walk down Robert E Lee Road, especially if you have kids. But, that doesn’t mean you aren’t close to some of the best amenities Austin has to offer. It just means you’ll have to drive to enjoy them!
Places to Eat Near Zilker Terrace
My favorite places to eat in South Austin are the food trucks. If you’re not from Austin, or haven’t been here long, you’re probably thinking there is no way I am eating food from a truck. Trust me, Austin’s food trucks serve some of the best food in Austin. For a more gourmet meal, try Odd Duck Farm to Trailer on S Lamar. For tacos, try Izzoz Tacos on S 1st and for cuban sandwiches try Texas Cuban on S Lamar.
Coffee Near Zilker Terrace
I am a coffee person. Well actually I am really more of an espresso person. I’ve tried coffee in many places and have got to say the coffee in South Austin is some of the best coffee I have tried in my life. My favorite is Summermoon on S 1st St. They serve wood fired coffee and there special moon milk. You can also try Once Over Coffee or Irie Bean.
Where to Work Out – Gyms Near Zilker Terrace
With Barton Springs Pool and the Zilker Trail so close, I would spend most of my time using these two areas to work out. When you get bored, there are several trainers who either have group exercise at Town Lake or who you can hire for private training sessions when you get bored. The weather in Austin is so nice so many months of the year, there aren’t too many days you can’t exercise outside.
