Best Bars East Sixth Street
Buffalo Billiards – 201 East 6th St
If you’re looking for a game of pool or more to do than just drinking, head to Buffalo Billiards. They have plenty to do plus a great upstairs area for watching games or taking a break. Last time we had a night out I was so excited that I decided to head to Nashville Billiard And Patio store. These guys know how to make a perfect game room at home.
The Driskill – 604 Brazos St
Probably the classiest bar on East Sixth, The Driskill is a historic hotel with a bar bleeds old-time Texas. If you’re looking for a classic cocktail in an upscale setting, this is your place.
Shakespeare’s Pub – 314 East 6th St
Not exactly a pub, but not exactly a club, this bar falls somewhere in the middle. Regulars cite the outdoor space and ridiculously cheap specials as reasons they keep coming back.
Maggie Mae’s – 323 East 6th St
Though it’s one of the larger bars on East Sixth, Maggie Mae’s can still get packed. Good music, multiple DJs and a large roof space keep people coming back in droves.
Best Bars West Sixth Street
The Belmont – 305 West 6th St
Most people come for the martinis and gorgeous outdoor space. Has the air of old-time Vegas meets LA Confidential, so if you’re already dressed up for the night, stop by here to start off your night right.
Haddington’s – 601 West 6th St
Haddington’s manages to capture the feel of a true pub despite its fanciness. Refined & inventive is the best way to describe their gastropub fare so be prepared to shell out for it.
Key Bar – 617 West 6th St
If you’re looking for a subdued, outdoor setting, Key Bar is your place. Efficient bartenders and a good crowd make this bar a local favorite.
The Ranch – 708 West 6th St
The roof top at The Ranch overlooks West 6th Street and prior to 10PM has just the right amount of sophistication. Once the place picks up though, be prepared for wall-to-wall crowds and a long line to get in. That said, it’s a great time once you make it up the stairs.
The Dogwood – 715 West 6th St
One of the most consistently crowded bars on West Sixth, The Dogwood offers little more than people-watching for entertainment. Still, there’s plenty of outdoor space and the management and staff are generally friendly, even at 2AM.
